Former U.S. Congressman Conor Lamb joins Energy Future PA as co-chair

Allegheny County attorney brings experience in federal energy policy to role

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Energy Future PA today welcomes former Pennsylvania Congressman Conor Lamb as co-chair of the nonpartisan coalition focused on securing Pennsylvania’s leadership in a decarbonized energy economy.

Energy Future PA is a nonpartisan coalition that supports a comprehensive suite of energy solutions to help meet the nation’s future energy needs and bolster reliability of the nation’s power grid – including renewables and low-to-zero-carbon fuel sources such as clean hydrogen, advanced nuclear energy, and carbon capture and storage technologies.

Lamb, an Allegheny County attorney, served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2018 through 2022. He joins former state Rep. Kate Harper of Montgomery County in leading the coalition.

“Energy Future PA is intentionally nonpartisan because smart energy policy that puts Pennsylvanians first shouldn’t be a partisan sport,” Harper said. “During his time in office, Conor was the epitome of a bipartisan lawmaker, placing good public policy ahead of ideology. We need more of that in Washington and in Harrisburg. I’m thrilled to have Conor as my co-chair, helping to champion the cause of common-sense energy policy.”

Lamb earned his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Pennsylvania before joining the U.S. Marine Corps and serving as an officer and judge advocate. Before his election to Congress, he served as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania in Pittsburgh. While in Congress, Lamb chaired the Energy Subcommittee of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. He now works in private practice law and remains active in public policy issues, including energy and environmental policy.

“Pennsylvania is in a unique position to lead the nation’s transformation to a decarbonized energy economy,” Lamb said. “We have an abundance of natural energy resources to leverage as part of the transition, we are a leading nuclear energy producer, and we now have two of the nation’s leading projects to develop regional hydrogen hubs.”

He added: “I’m honored to help lead Energy Future PA, because it’s a coalition that recognizes Pennsylvania’s incredible potential to be a global leader in the new energy economy – creating and sustaining jobs for Pennsylvanians and boosting our economy. It’s a common-sense approach that crosses party lines.”

Lamb succeeds former Pennsylvania Auditor General Eugene DePasquale, who stepped down as co-chair to further pursue his political career.

“From Philadelphia to Pittsburgh, from Erie to Scranton, and everywhere in between – what matters most to Pennsylvanians is that we put Pennsylvanians first,” DePasquale said. “With Conor and Kate leading the way, Energy Future PA will continue to be their voice for common-sense energy policy – both in Harrisburg and in D.C.”
